Vermonters: Host a Health Care House Party

Just got this from Pete Welch, the Vermont Senate President Pro Tempore:

Vermont's health care system is in crisis. Too many people are uninsured and costs are skyrocketing. But thankfully, we have a real opportunity for reform this year.

The Vermont Senate is working hard to build on the good work of the House of Representatives and send the Governor a bill Vermonters will insist he sign. I need your help building grassroots momentum behind this legislation.

To give you an update on the legislative action and answer your questions, Speaker Gaye Symington and I are working together with Democracy for America (DFA) to host Health Care House Parties this Thursday, May 12.

Go here!

Nineteen Health Care House Parties are already set up across Vermont. There is probably one near you. These will be fun, informative evenings that help move Vermont towards universal access to health care. If there isn't a House Party set up near you, I invite you to host one of your own.

We have to tackle the health care crisis now. Vermonters will spend nearly $1 million more on health care each and every day -- $350 million a year -- if we can't begin to slow the rate of growth.

Gaye and I are eager to work with you on this. We'll be calling in to every House Party to discuss the best ways to help. I believe the health care crisis is the most important issue Vermont faces today. And, with your help, I know we can make significant steps toward reform that address the costs and improve access.
Sadly, I can't host one and not just because of the short notice. But if you can, please check it out. I think this is quite important.
