Lady Liberty (Finally) Reopens

I swear that the fact that the French gave it to us was a big part in keeping it closed for nearly three years. It's been a grave shame and completely unnecessary.

Governor George Pataki was full of gas (the noxious kind) when he said today, "In a larger sense, this statue was never closed and will never be closed."

Yet, even with the reopening, it's estimated that only a few hundred will be allowed in each day for a guided tour. This is nothing compared to the thousands who used to visit every day.

Sadly, the statue is indeed a symbol of what's happened to our country since 9-11-01, when we talk and talk about our freedoms and then lock everything down. We've let it - and us - be held hostage. We need change because it's not a matter of IF the terrorists will win, for in large part, they (or what our leaders tell us they are) have won. We must take our country back.
