Israel Amasses Hundreds of Troops Along Lebanon Border for "Another Shot" at Hezbollah; Rice Outlines "Strategy"

Israel is amassing hundreds of troops along Lebanon's Southern border, where dozens of tanks are already in place. As anticipated, it looks like we haven't seen anything yet in terms of death and destruction even though the infrastructure is reportedly totally gone in large parts of already war-weakened Lebanon.

Meanwhile, Secretary of State (which apparently in her case only means she takes dick-tation from Bush-Cheney) Condoleeza Rice outlines her "strategy". I can summarize it for you in less words and far less halting delivery than Condi: "Let Israel do whatever it wants to whomever it wants no matter how many lies are lost and.. oh yeah... my president is brilliant! A visionary! And a real stud, too!"

Then she had the bald-faced audacity to add, "lasting peace is the goal."

This really is a crock, because weakening Lebanon merely makes it far MORE likely that Hezbollah can operate there; Israel's battering of it in the past is exactly what left the door open for Hezbollah to make such deep in-roads there.

I do believe the Israeli people by and large DO want peace. But - as with Mr. Bush and this country - Israeli's political leaders like Netanyahu, Sharon, and now Olmert do not ACT in ways that can create peace. They act in ways that will assure nothing but war and mutual destruction. Bush is a great person to emulate there.
