Israel, the Strike on a UN Facility in Lebanon, and the Far Right's Spin Machine

I suppose it was predictable that as soon as some strong evidence floated to the surface that it is unlikely Israeli forces accidentally struck a U.N. base in Lebanon yesterday (Tuesday) in its efforts to wipe out Hezbollah, the far right in this country - always ready to rush to Israel's defense "because the Bible tells me to!" so they have the Rapture just as they want it - began to make up myths to cover for attack. We've even had one of the myths (Hezbollah RUNS the U.N. in Lebanon) appear here in comments.

It apparently never occurs to the talking point twitterers that them claiming Israel did attack the U.N. observer point on purpose (to defeat Hezbollah) flies in the face of Israel's own insistence - complete with Israel making actual demands on the victims they hit - that the strike was an accident. You know, a 6-10 hour, with the UN itself along with Irish officers and others, mistake. All that matters to the truthiness 101st Keyboard Kommando division is that they get a lie out there what discredis an international body like the U.N., not caring whether it makes a hoot of sense.

From Glenn Greenwald's blog we learn that Little Green Footballs - and from my own checking today, many, many other righty sites - stayed up late last night celebrating the UN deaths. Unfortunately, I think the celebration is believable based on what we've seen them sociopaths do in the past and present.

Just the last week, for example, people like this have applauded the deaths of Lebanese children, said every dead Lebanese is wonderful because it means one less terrorist to attack them, insisted we should go in and drop a nuclear weapon on every Muslim country, and - oh yes - all Arabs should be removed from Muslim majority nations and their property turned over to Jewist settlers so the apocalypse can happen real soon now.

Sick fucks, one and all.
