McCain and Giuliani: Running Is Very Different From Winning
After McCain has already announced (pretty much) that he's running in 2008 for president comes word that Rudy "The Ego" Giuliani will be in the race as well.
I've stated why McCain won't get it, but let me be clear on why New York's former mayor won't. The far right won't let him have it for a number of reasons that amount to:
- his name ending in a vowel
- his father tied to organized crime
- his three marriages (each wife being the mistress he left the previous wife for)
- his Catholicism
- His willingness to do whatever the Bushies wanted after 9/11 that amounted to ceasing any attempts to find live survivors to accommodate George's bullhorn moment
- His forcing through the lie that ground zero was safe for rescue workers and for residents to return
- He fought against rescue workers getting help for their illnesses
- He lied to the 9/11 commission to help the Bushies
- His agreement to stop processing ground zero as a crime scene when dozens and dozens of more body parts have been discovered in the five plus years since.
- He made a fortune off 9/11 and in a lot of not very good ways.
- Lies to try to force his man, Kerik, into head of Homeland (In)Security
- He's so dirty than his DNA is corrupt.
There's more. This is just what I could think of in under 30 seconds.
