"We'll Get Osama Dead or Alive Unless We Don't"

So why, if CIA director Porter Goss knows where Osama bin Laden is, don't we go in and get him?

Good question.

First, ask yourself why we haven't gotten him already? One imagines that if we really had wanted to get him, we would have.

My sneaking suspicion is that Osama is our bogeyman, and as long as he's loose, Bush feels he has carte blanche to call terror alerts whenever it's politically advantageous (read: when his polls sag, when he wants to point out a bad guy) and spend billions upon billions of dollars on measures that make his cronies rich but America not much safer at all.

Mind you, I'm not even addressing here the various close and multitudinous alliances between the families bin Laden and Bush, from the Carlyle Group to all those "defense" contractors to social engagements, ad infinitum.
