The Right's New Ploy: Call All the Memos Fake

But that won't work.

First off, Bush and Blair, when asked about the memos more than a week ago, said NOTHING about them not being true and accurate. Even when Bush gave that strange press conference a few days later when he talked of "disassembling", he never refuted the content of the memos.

Separately, Blair and top Brit officials have indicated the memos are accurate. In fact, numerous British sources have verified their authenticity.

MSNBC says they verified them all.

While the Washington Post clearly wanted to avoid the subject, when they finally addressed the memos, they stated flatly that there was NO question about their validity.

The New York Times likewise said British officials confirmed the authenticity of the memos.

So did CNN.

Murdoch's Times of London said that neither Bush nor Blair questioned the authenticity of the memos, which were separately confirmed.

Kevin Drum offers more confirmation here.

So they can try to float the balloon, but unlike the memos themselves, this lie machine will be shot full of holes.
