What a Gorgeous Day

For some of us, this is Easter; for others, it's another Sunday. Either way, at least in my corner of the north woods, it's a beautiful day in which sun on the remaining two feet or so of snow is almost blinding; the sky is a remarkable shade of blue (even for Vermont where you see less occlusion from pollution).

And yes, it's Mud Season. Even CNN has finally recognized that we have an extra season.

Actually we have two additional seasons: besides the standard four seasons plus Mud season, we also have Black Fly season where any intelligent person only goes outside with netting and/or body armor. If you think I'm joking (I did when locals warned me my first BFS here), come during Black Fly season. Black flies make Jersey mosquitoes around the marshy domain of the Pine Barrens seem like rank amateurs. The welts these flies produce is phenomenal for something so small.
