Bernard Kerik - Perhaps In For More Than the Tap on the Wrist He Already Got

You surely remember Bernie Kerik, former top cop in New York City during 9/11 and Rudy Giuliani's "bestest pal evah", so much so that Giuliani and Associates hired him in a top position and Giuliani with George Bush tried to force Kerik upon us as head of Department of Homeland (In)Security (DHS) after Tom Ridge left. But as hard as they tried to push Kerik down our throats, some nasty truths about Kerik - sweetheart deals and possible kickbacks, using cops to research his book that was full of half-truths and outright fiction, sleeping with his publisher - came out. Even those Bush and Giuliani continued to push Kerik, the Bushies finally had to back down.

Well, Bernie got no more than a slap on the wrist when some of these charges were first investigated. But, as Majikthise tells you, he might garner MORE now that some new nasty stuff has come to light.

Remember some of this in 2008, when Rudy Giuliani, whom Bob Novak reports definitely WILL run for president on the GOP line, wants your vote. America's mayor is probably about as dirty as you come. His one redeeming feature used to be that he would stand up against stupid "rah rah Republicanism" but he now embraces it with a fervor that almost makes you doubt his sanity.

Now, traditional conservatives and far righters will NOT go for Giuliani (or McCain no matter how much he kisses their butts these days). But there are much bigger and better reasons not to go for Giuliani, not the least of which is some huge questions surrounding how much he knew before 9/11 and how he hung first responders out to dry AFTER 9/11. Don't buy the "America's mayor" routine; the only one Rudy ever represents is Rudy and he's already been very, very well compensated for his bravado on 9-11; we don't need to make him president.
