The Flap Over Teresa Heinz-Kerry's Comments on Laura Bush

To retort that Heinz-Kerry is completely off-base because Laura was an educator and librarian is a tad ridiculous. Mrs. Bush worked for a very short time after she completed her schooling and has not held any position - save for less than sumptuous Stepford Wife - for nearly 28 years, long before her twins were born. The twins have been jetting off on their own all over for more than six years.

Mrs. Bush was welcome to make that choice as the well-heeled wife of a well-heeled screwup. But for four years, we've had her label as educator and librarian pushed in our faces while she's been a wallflower for longer than she was anything else.

Today, most people don't have the choice whether to work. I'm fine with that myself. I'm also fine with Heinz-Kerry's comments.
