National Identity (ID) Cards: Bad Idea Everywhere, But in Iraq, They Get You Killed

Don't know whether you've caught any of the pieces that have appeared recently in WaPo, on MSNBC/Newsweek, and other venues about Iraq's mandatory national identity cards and what they mean - and remember, the Bushies are pushing for all of us to carry one.

In Iraq, these mandatory national ID cards are being used to help the bad guys identify a prospective victim as Sunni or Shiite. If you happen to carry the wrong card, BOOM or SLIT or POW. To save their own freaking lives, Iraqis are resorting to fake ID cards that allow them to pass as a different ethic group.

And who insists Iraqis carry these cards? You got it: the Bushies.
