"Just Say No to Iran Nuking" and "Bush's Veterans Affair Chief Helped Himself More than Vets"
The Los Angeles Times, besides its aforementioned brave editorial calling for Cheney to step down, also gives us two other important pieces this weekend.
One is from former NSA head Zbigniew Brzezinski who writes "Been There, Done That" and cites four critical reasons why the U.S. should NOT wage war on Iran. Brzesinki's is smart and ever so skilled. I'd recommend you read this.
The second shows how Bush's Veterans Affair chief Anthony J. Precipi gave his OWN company more than $1 billion in VA contracts (can you say conflict of interest, boys and girls? I know you can) before he "retired to spend more time with his family". This is the rule rather than the exception with the Bushies: bankrupt middle-class taxpayers while lining the pockets of the already fabulously, infamously rich.
Snip:
While he was VA secretary, Principi's past and future corporate home collected about $246 million in fees, according to VA records. Congressional Budget Office projections show the contracts could be worth as much as $1.2 billion through 2008.Yeah, and I'm Mary, Queen of Scots.
Principi said he had no role in awarding, amending or administering VA contracts with QTC.
