Remember in September...

Chuck Hagel, GOP Senator from Nebraska, just said it beautifully on CNN with Wolf Blitzer: it is SHAMEFUL how terrorism is used as a political tool and relegated to the sewer wedge issue.

But remember all the information that has come out in the last few months - and in the five years SINCE September 11th, 2001 - about how:

• the Bushies deliberately blocked a comprehensive investigation and, despite the work of the commission, we STILL don't have such an investigation and likely never will
• tough it was to get Bush and Cheney to talk with the 9-11 investigative commission for just a few hours
• the Pentagon and other agencies outright LIED and danced around efforts to determine who exactly was at fault for 9/11
• many ways the Bushies have acted to make us far LESS safe than we were on 9-11
• many hundreds of ways the Bushies had to fuck up in order for 9-11 to be as "successful" as it was to do so much damage
• for all the talk of the British liquid bomb plane plot, the Bushies in five years have no plan in place to watch cargo holds of airplanes
• various polls show that at least 50% of Americans believe our own government was complicit in the horror of 9-11 (and this 50% is probably a very low estimate since many people seem too afraid to admit publicly that the Bushies had something to do with 9-11
• these issues, while huge, only barely scratch a tiny bit of the surface of the questions that remain unanswered about that gorgeous Tuesday morning in September 2001
