Bill Clinton: GOP Extremists Have Divided America

Absolutely no argument here, except (probably out of respect for Hillary's presidential plans) our 42nd president did not indicate that some of the absolute worst extremists have been the Christian far right who will allow no compromise on their agenda:

DES MOINES, Iowa - Former President Bill Clinton told Iowa’s Democratic Party faithful on Saturday that the actions of “an extreme sliver” of the Republican Party have backfired and “profoundly divided” the country.

“We’ve got a big responsibility. Forget about 2008. Forget about the politics. Just go out and find somebody and look them dead in the eye and say You know, this is not right’...This is America,” Clinton said. “We can do better and this year, it’s a job that Democrats have to do alone.”

I've already had this dialogue, almost continuously since December 2000 and even more so after 9-11-2001. While I'm not always sure what it has accomplished, a few folks have hinted to me in conversation that my willingness to speak has make them feel empowered to do so.
