Popular Story Today - Vermont Towns Vote to Impeach Bush

From the Associated Press (although I like it when Skippy says AssPress or in skippy... asspress - the ee cummings of blogtopia!):

NEWFANE, Vt. - In five Vermont communities, a centuries-old tradition of residents gathering in town halls to conduct local business became a vehicle to send a message to Washington: Impeach the president.

An impeachment article, approved by a paper ballot 121-29 in Newfane Tuesday, calls on Vermont’s lone member of the U.S. House, independent Rep. Bernie Sanders, to file articles of impeachment against President Bush, alleging he misled the nation into the Iraq war and engaged in illegal domestic spying.

“It absolutely affects us locally,” said Newfane select board member Dan DeWalt, who drafted the impeachment article. “It’s our sons and daughters, our mothers and fathers, who are dying” in the war in Iraq.
I love how the freepers and the rest of Clueless Dementiadom, those great patrons of "less government" are calling for black helicopters to land in Vermont and the entire population placed on the Terror Watch List.

Hell, I suspect the entire population is already on the Terror Watch List. But that's a story for another day. (cough)

Unfortunately, Bernie Sanders is balking, saying that talking about impeachment is impractical.

Bernie, dear: so is all that red money Rich Tarrant is taking into the Senate campaign. Impractical? Bernie, this isn't semen on the blue dress of a consulting adult. This is lying us into war, into deficit, into a wholesale destruction of the values this country says it holds dear. This is lying us into at least 2300 US soldiers dead, and who knows how many hundreds of thousands of innocent civilians in Iraq with more in Afghanistan. Where's Osama bin Laden?

Now tell me about practical, Bernie. This, I have to hear!
