That Last Article Raises a Lot

Sure, it can be argued that "we won't share information" with Europe because we're afraid it will get into the wrong hands". Yet the US demands the entire rest of the world do things their way. You can't have a one-way street: there is no way that this will play and the US has to know that.

So is their desire to have the rest of the world mad at us, unwilling to help? This almost seems the case because we're literally doing just about everything wrong to assure the world-wide system works to defeat terrorism.

But there's more. I wonder if we won't share information because a) we don't want Europe to know how many questionable informants and "competing interests" have a stake in US security and policy and b) we think Europe will object if they know more about what we do.

Again and again with the Bushies, there is all this secrecy. If we saw better results, perhaps many wouldn't question it. But again and again, we see dismal failure and a system that blocks investigations into specific Saudis (for example) while going after anyone who with even the most minimal ties to Islamic religion or business.
