Wow, boys & girls! It's almost time for the I. Lewis "Scooter" Libby trial to commence, featuring none other than the chickenhawk man whose heart was constructed by a secret Pentagon defense project (all armor and weaponry, no warmth), Richard "Duck, It's Dick!" Cheney (aka Lynne's bestest bitch). [Cheney is supposed to testify.]
Libby, as you may recall, was Dick's second in command when the Bushies decided it would be really fun (and cute, let's not forget cute) to commit an act of treason by leaking the name of an active covert CIA operative with a ranking spy role in the global War on
Their mission - which they not only chose to accept, they got downright giddy with excitement at the prospect - involved finding a journalist with no scruples who was willing to endanger the lives of both the CIA operative and those who worked with her just to make Cheney happy. Thankfully, they found a bunch of scruple-challenged journos, including columnist and senior douchebag Robert Novak and Judith ("I see WMD everywhere and I'll lie until you do, too!") Miller, with Novak breaking the story in mid-July 2003.
Why expose a CIA covert operative? As political payback because former Ambassador Joe Wilson, sent by the Bushies to investigate the strange story of Niger yellow cake and then, when he returned to report the charges were false, the Bushies wouldn't listen. When they decided to go into the Iraq War using the lie of Niger - complete with Italian-minted falsified documents - Wilson went public and, as we know, there is nothing George Bush and Dick Cheney despise MORE than the truth. So they went after Wilson's wife, the CIA operative Valerie Plame.
Fat fuck Karl Rove and many others were involved in this leak, and yet they've been allowed to go along, business as usual, turning our tax dollars into their game of destroy-the-country-and-every-decent-person-in-it. Libby - granted, a creep in his own right - is just the altar sacrifice on this one. I have really no doubt he'll walk away - and probably make a mint off story rights.
After all, the Bush-Cheney people NEVER seem to be held accountable for their crimes and ALWAYS profit from them.
I don't get it. I just don't.
