A Full Moon the Color of a Blood Orange
I seem to have a theme going: completely unable to sleep in the hours when most mortals do so.
But I've been drawn to be awake this night watching the full moon become more and more orange red as it sinks down behind Camel's Hump (a mountain here) or whatever the eff is the name of the mountain I'm looking at.
I have definitely never seen a moon quite this color, and the tint, I suspect, is a combination of the heat-humidity in the atmosphere (common enough for July) and incredible air pollution, which can really only worsen in the Bush years.
I'm also reminded of a line from Kurt Vonnegut:
