For My Fellow Vermonters

Cathy Resmer of 802 Online lets us know that Seven Days, the thought-provoking and artful free weekly, now has a blog. I love the publication; it's a must-read in our household and one of the few things that my significant other will actually leave the house just to pick up (and unlike my requests for the occasional roll of Necco wafers, he doesn't even grumble about going out for a Seven Days).

  1. NECCO WAFFERS!!! OHH MY GOD. I haven't seen those things in years. We don't seem to get them south of the mason dixie line.

I loved those things when I was a kid, Except for the black/deep purple ones. They always tasted funny to me.

  2. Vermont is the land of lost food. We do Zero bars and Zagnut bars and Necco wafers and "common" crackers" - you know, in exchange for reliable electricity and phone service. ::grin:: The general stores up here are filled with this stuff, but you go into a mom and pop place off the tourist strip and they're regular price.

And you're right: the deep purple ones DO taste funny.
