More Lies from the Bushies About Israel

As Col. Pat Lang writes at Sic Semper Tyrannis 2006, the Bushies have been floating around some uh... truthiness about the Arab world's reaction to the Israeli actions against Hezbollah (and lots of innocent civilians) in Lebanon. Here:

"We are requesting a cease-fire to allow for a cessation of hostilities," Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Saud al-Faisal said after an Oval Office meeting with Bush.

Saud said he gave the president a letter from Saudi King Abdullah asking that Bush help seek an immediate cease-fire in the Middle East conflict." Yahoo

Well, so much for Sunni Arab support of the Israeli campaign. The US had been claiming that Saudi Arabia, Jordan and Egypt favored Israel in the present unpleasantness. This action repudiates that position.

It will be interesting to see if the Administration continues to make their previous claim, and what Egypt and Jordan will do.

Unfortunately, the Bushies know no shame and have never let facts get in the way of any of their truthiness before.
